More than just adding value to waste, Suldouro values people's quality of life, ensuring that the waste used is either repurposed as a resource or sent to the most appropriate destination.
Door-to-door selective collection

The door-to-door selective collection program, which began in 2016 as a pilot project, involves the free delivery of three 140-liter containers to residents of the municipalities of Santa Maria da Feira and Vila Nova de Gaia for the separation of recyclable waste such as paper/cardboard, plastic/metal/beverage cartons, and glass at home, followed by its collection.

This action, which includes a differentiated collection project, is extremely important and will enable the achievement of the goals established by the Strategic Urban Waste Plan (PERSU 2020).

By the end of 2021, dedicated door-to-door domestic collection will cover 36,480 households, corresponding to approximately 121,480 inhabitants, already contributing 31.5% to the total multi-material waste collection of Suldouro and 37.0% if only the three-stream collection is considered, demonstrating its importance and indispensability for meeting the goals set out in PERSU2020.

Selective waste collection takes place Monday to Friday, from 5:30 AM to 1:15 AM, and on Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. For each waste stream, collection occurs according to the following schedule:

- Blue and Yellow: 5:30 AM – 1:15 AM.

- Green: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Monday to Friday)

Note: In extraordinary situations, glass collection may occur until 9:00 PM during the week and on Saturdays at the previously defined times.
