More than just adding value to waste, Suldouro values people's quality of life, ensuring that the waste used is either repurposed as a resource or sent to the most appropriate destination.
Energetic Recovery

The anaerobic decomposition of organic matter deposited in landfills generates a gas rich in methane (approximately 60%), called biogas. This gas must be captured and treated, with combustion being the most common method.

Suldouro performs this treatment and simultaneously produces electricity – energy recovery – in a plant equipped with 7 motor-generator units with an installed capacity of 7.46 MW.

These electricity production units can also supply, through their cooling circuit, the thermal energy necessary for heating the facilities.

The electricity produced by Suldouro allows for a reduction in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions of approximately 7,000 tons of CO2 equivalent, as well as a reduction in energy dependence equivalent to the consumption of approximately 19,000 barrels of oil. On average, it has allowed the company to meet the energy consumption needs of nearly 10,000 homes.
